In short

You can browse without giving us anything.
Sellers give us an email and phone number. These are shown to buyers who click "Show seller contact info".
We use one sign-in cookie. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell your information.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains what information SellShnell ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Service.

1. What we collect

If you sell

Your email address, which you confirm with a one-time code.
Your phone number, and your name if you choose to give it.
Your listings: the category, name, description, price, condition, quantity, photos and location. For the location, we store the city or ZIP code you pick and its approximate map coordinates, so buyers can search by distance.
Records about your listings, such as when you posted them, when you agreed to these terms, when you answered the 30-day check, and when a buyer first opened your contact info.

If you contact us

The name, email address and message you send through the Contact us form, and our replies.

If our team posts a listing for you

The email, phone number, name and listing details you give our team. Our admins may also keep private notes about a listing to help manage it.

Everyone

Browsing and searching don't need any personal information.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you open, to deliver the website and protect it from abuse.
Cookies. We use one cookie to keep sellers and admins signed in. It ends when you close your browser or log out, and lasts at most 12 hours. We don't use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or tracking pixels.

2. How we use it

To run SellShnell: show listings, let buyers search, and let buyers contact sellers.
To sign you in with email codes.
To send emails about your listings: approval, the 30-day "still for sale?" check, removal notices, and, if you choose, a note the first time a buyer opens your contact info.
To review listings, answer your messages, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
To follow the law.

We don't use your information to send you marketing, and we don't sell it or share it for advertising.

3. What is public

Listings are public: anyone can see a listing's photos, description, price, condition, quantity (when it is 2 or more), item number and location. A seller's email address and phone number (and name, if given) are shown to anyone who clicks "Show seller contact info" on their listing. Think about this before you post, and don't put personal details you want to keep private in a listing's description or photos.

We share information only as needed to run SellShnell, with these service providers:

Cloudflare hosts the website and stores our database and listing photos.
Resend sends our emails, such as sign-in codes and listing notices.
Google Fonts provides the website's fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
Zippopotam.us and Photon (by komoot) help find a place when you type a city or ZIP code that isn't in our built-in list. What you type is sent to them from your browser to look up the place.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect anyone's safety or rights, or to investigate fraud or abuse, and as part of a sale or transfer of SellShnell.

5. How long we keep it

Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Sign-in sessions end within 12 hours.
Listings stay up until they are removed or expire. When a listing is removed or expires, its photos are deleted. We keep a record of past listings (without photos) and of messages, so we can handle questions, disputes and legal requests, unless you ask us to delete them and the law allows it.
Your contact details stay on file until you ask us to delete them.

6. Your choices and rights

In the seller portal you can change your phone number and name, change a listing's price and quantity, remove listings, and turn the first-buyer email on or off.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or ask any question about it, through the Contact us form. We will answer within a reasonable time and as the law requires. We may need to confirm it's you, usually by email.
Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have more rights under local law. We will honor them as the law requires and won't treat you differently for using them.

7. Children

SellShnell is for adults. Sellers and buyers who contact sellers must be at least 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child gave us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We protect your information with secure connections (HTTPS), one-time sign-in codes instead of passwords, and limited access for admins. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be lost or accessed without permission.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If the change is important, we may ask sellers to agree again before posting.
